23428 Lindblom Maroon Eagles

Team 23428, known as the Lindblom Eaglets Maroon, has been an active member of FIRST since 2023. Since then, we've grown a lot as a team but also as our own individuals. We work hard and effectively in and outside of competitions, while still learning and presenting our knowledge and skills. We work to embody the message of FIRST, Gracious Professionalism, while also understanding the meaning of hard work. Lindblom Eaglets Maroon is a space exclusively for everyone to join, even with no experience.

Lindblom Eaglets Maroon (25-26 Season)

This photo is a collaboration from both Maroon & Gold Team, where we made it to City Qualifiers, then later advanced to State Qualifiers. When you join FTC, you will either be on Maroon or Gold Eaglets. During the short amount of time we worked together, we gained so much intelligence but went through a lot.

Meets

1B (11th place)

Our first competition as a team, we didn't know what to expect. We went 2-3-0, which is honestly a great start. We actually hosted this kickoff!

2C (4th place)

Took place at Griffin Museum of Science and Industry (MSI), where we managed to go 5-0-0!

3C (4th place)

Our next meeting took place at Wolcott College Prep, going 3-2-0, which isn't too bad.

League Tournament A (13th place)

Now, we were at Francis Parker for our first tournament, where we ended up going 2-3-0. All hope was lost till we were announced as the final team making it to states. Lindblom Eaglets Maroon won the Connect award.

Illinois Championship, Solomon Division (24th place)

Unfortunately, we did a bit poorly at states, going 1-6-0. Yet, this was the first time Maroon made it this far, so it was an amazing experience for us as a team.

How have we shared the word of FIRST and FTC within our school?

Engineering Fair

This event was hosted at Lindblom, in the library. Where 50+ students gathered and walked around to get to know more about robotics and FIRST. We displayed our DECODE robots at the time, explained how the game works to them and how it's helped our members grow and learn so much more.

Decision Day

For this presentation, we brought robots from over the years to show to others to try to get them interested. Our teams talked to may upcoming freshman, try to enourage them to join robotics as there are many skills that can help you later on. We wanted to spread the word of FIRST, inspire others to compete with us, but also have fun.

NSBE Chicago Professionals Engineers Week EXPO

On February 28th, our team, in partnership with NSBE, hosted an information session in which both FTC teams (Maroon and Gold Eagles) and other teams talked about their robot to aspiring young engineers. It was a huge gallery walk, where we talked to 50+ attendees.

Awards

Connect Award

The Connect Award was given to us during our DECODE season. The Connect Award recognizes a team that makes meaningful partnerships with members of the STEM community. A team must demonstrate professional development skills by explaining its plan for developing team members skills, such as the team's goals for learning and the steps the team has taken or will take to reach those goals! This was a big achievement for us.

DECODE (2025-26)

The robot to the left was our competition bot, which went through a lot of development over the course of the season. Our game was a shooting-driven match, where we had to pick up artifacts and shoot them into the corresponding area. It started off as a kitbot, but later on, we altered him and had many iterations wtih ramps and such. We weren't the best but we weren't so bad either. It's good to start off simple rather than something complex, taking a lot of time we don't necessarily have.
