23427 Lindblom Gold Eaglets

For Lindblom FTC, there are two teams that an eaglet would be apart of. On the gold team, you're typically in your second/third year of robotics and have a greater understanding of CAD, engineering, and programming. Within the season, Gold eaglets will play at least three Qualifiers, one City Competition, and then hopefully States.

Team 23427, the Lindblom Gold Eaglets began their gracious journey with FIRST in 2023. From the beginning of the season up until the end, 23427 has always expressed Gracious Professionalism and applied the skills they've learned from robotics not only in the team but also in daily life. The Lindblom Gold Eaglets strive to embody FIRST in and outside of events, and most importantly have fun! No matter who you are or how much experience you have in robotics you are welcome to join the Lindblom Gold Eaglets. We would love to have you on our team!

Lindblom Gold Eaglets (25-26 Season)

EVENTS

1B Qualifier

The first competition of the 3rd Lindblom Gold Eaglets team! It gave us a big picture of how future qualifiers will be. Making friends with other teams was one of the best parts about the first qualifier! We ended up with a score of 3-2-0, a strong first meet.

2C Qualifier

At the second competition we had an idea of what to expect for the day. We scouted, strategized, and communicated with other teams to be prepared for every upcoming match. We ended with a total of 2-3-0 which wasn't as well as the first meet but we now grasped how qualifiers worked!

3C Qualifier

For the final competition we were prepared to scout every team and collect information from our alliance partners, opposing alliance, and other teams. This meet would be the most important for our ranking and how well we do in City! For our final qualifier we ended up with 3-2-0.

League Tournament A

Our performance in the City Competitions determined if we could continue doing robotics for 3 or more weeks. This competition was hosted at Francis Parker and we ended the tournament with a result of 3-2-0. Regardless of placing 12th and participating in play-offs, it didn't guarantee our pass to States or not. It was not until we got 2nd place for Inspire Award that we ended up qualifying to robot at States! Our portfolio helped us make it that far, so remember to always put effort in portfolio! (even if its a little boring..)

Illinois Championship, Solomon Division

In this tournament we experienced huge accomplishments and a pretty big heartbreak ... During states our robot had a wiring issue that we were unable to fix until the near end of the competition. Our driver stations were also malfunctioning, the batteries were low, and it was not connecting to the robot. Both teams were devastated as the Maroon team was having issues as well. We ended the day with a 2-5-0 loss, but now we know the importance of doing checks on the robot before the competition.

How have we shared the word of FIRST and FTC within our school?

Engineering Fair

This event was hosted at Lindblom's library by the FTC/FRC Teams, and our different STEM Groups (STEMinist, SHPE, NSBE). More than 50+ students attended and learned information about FIRST, Engineering, and STEM.

Decision Day

The Robotics and STEM Groups made presentations and spoke to many students and families about engineering and the awesome careers that can stem from the engineering field!

NSBE Chicago Professionals Engineers Week EXPO

On February 28th, NSBE hosted an event where more than 300 kids attended! Both FTC teams (Maroon and Gold) talked about their robot, teams, and had many of the kids interact with the robot/game pieces. Multiple companies also attended this event and spoke about their missions.

Inspire Award 2nd Place

During the City Competition, the Gold Eaglets received the 2nd Place Inspire Award! The Inspire Award is given to teams that are a strong role model for FIRST. Those teams present themselves in a positive, respectful, and professional manner on and off of the field. They inspire other teams and spread the word of FIRST! One of the requirements includes having a portfolio to present to the judges about their accomplishments throughout the season (you can see ours under this).

Lindblom Gold Robot (25-26)

The Lindblom Gold Team 25-26 robot wasn't a kitbot but a special robot created from the bright ideas of many of the Gold Team members! To create this robot we used a design process that involved researching, strategizing, CAD, fabrication, prototyping, testing, and iteration. We used CAD to create modified parts for our robot like the intake walls, gears, and the turret! For this robot we wanted to go big and decided to have our robot lift to get more points. We began with a simple robot and focused on shooting, while other teams started to continue to build on those skills we decided to add a lift system to our robot.

This portfolio (pdf here) demonstrates all of our team's design, team impact, and sustainability goals and achievements. We created and presented this document to FIRST judges, and with it we won Inspire Award 2nd Place at Chicago League Tournament A!

Lindblom Gold Team (24-25 Season)

EVENTS

1C Qualifier

The first competition of the 2nd Lindblom Gold Eaglets team! We were able to observe other teams robot teams designs and get inspiration from them. We also helped other teams by supplying them with stuff they needed to succeed! We ended off with a overall of 3-1-1 (W-L-T).

2B Qualifier

At the second competition we started to strategize, communicate, and adjust to our alliance partner and other teams. With our open-minded thinking we were able to have the best possible outcome in each match. We were also able to test out different autos and designs we've come up with during our matches! We ended off with a overall of 4-1-0 (W-L-T).

3B Qualifier

For the final competition we have pretty much wrapped up our design ideas. We focused primarily on presenting ourselves to other teams to figure out what works best for everyone during a match. Our scouting skills developed stronger than ever before. We ended off with a overall of 5-0-0 (W-L-T).
