Universal Control System
The Universal Control System is a module intended to aid in rapid prototyping by allowing us to quickly install a Robo-RIO, Power Distribution Panel, Voltage Control Module, and Radio in one relatively compact package. The system can be easily mounted via four holes on the bottom and has a profile of 8” ¾ x 9” ¼, allowing for placement flexibility, even on a smaller chassis.
The PDP is located at the bottom of the system and can be accessed by flipping up the top half, the PDP is wired to Anderson connectors to make it simple to connect and disconnect power to the robot. The top half of the system contains the VCM, Radio, and Robo-RIO, power from the PDP is routed to the Robo-RIO and the VCM, which then wires power to the radio. The system also has an easy way to use CAN wires, the wires are routed from the Robo-RIO to an access hub where the user can connect their systems, afterwards, there is another hub located beside the access hub that terminates the CAN at the PDP. Universal Pneumatics System
The Universal Pneumatics module condenses all of the pneumatic control systems, cutting down on clutter, and streamlining the development of mechanisms. The design consists of up to 2 pneumatic control modules and a 3-6 solenoid mounting block. The compactness of the design allows developers to focus on testing the movement of the mechanisms, rather than the entire pneumatics system as a whole. With easy installation, the module cuts down on setup times, allowing our team to plug in our mechanisms and test them. A link is attached to the image directing to the UPS design overview.
